The Present Perfect Continuous Tense is formed:

     Subject +Helping Verb Have/has been + base form of the verb+ing +object+ since /for +time+.

  e.g :   She has been studying in this academy  since July.

            I am tired, because I have been working since 3.00p.m.

            They have been waiting here for 50 minutes.

 

 Affirmative:     Subject + Helping Verb + have/has been+ base form of the verb+ing+since/for+time+object+ .

 

NEGATIVE:   Subject +Helping Verb have/has+ not been +base form of the verb+ing+ object since/for+time.

 

Interrogative:  Helping Verb have/has + subject been + base form of the verb+ing +Object +since/for+time ?

 

Note :

 

   SINCE AND FOR are called  (TIME WORDS)

Since is used for   point of time

For is used for      period of time

 

for" indicates the duration (how long) an action has been happening (e.g., for two hoursfor ages), while "since" indicates the specific starting point.

 

 

 

 

THE PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE USES

Below are the usages/uses of Present perfect cont tense

 

·        The present perfect continuous (progressive) describes that an event/action started in the past and is continuing at the present time.

e.g, she has been working with us since 2019.    (Started in 2019 and still working)

        They have been living in this city for 14 years. (living here from past years and still living)

 

·        The present perfect Continuous tense highlights that how long an activity has been in progress.

e g.  we have been waiting here since 12. a.m.

         I have been learning French for five Months.

         I have been watching “Tome and jerry” since childhood.
