New learners always face difficulties and remain confused while using the above 

Co relative conjunctions.

1. Uses of Neither … Nor

Neither … nor is a correlative conjunction in English  language .some grammar experts  say these are Structures used in  their language.


Neither ,Nor  are used to connect two negative alternatives. It means “not this and not that.” 

we use them for:

(a) To show two negative choices

It indicates that both options are rejected.

Examples:

Neither father  nor my teacher was agree .

Neither they came nor called me .

Neither the teacher nor the students solved the question

(b) Subject–verb agreement rule

The verb agrees with the nearest subject (the noun closest to the verb).

Examples:

Neither the Coach  nor the captain was ready.

Neither the captain nor the players are ready.

(c) After negative statements (formal style)

Used to continue a negative idea.

Examples:

He did not apologize, and neither did he explain his position.

She does not like noise, nor does she tolerate rudeness.


2. Uses of Either … Or

Either … or is also a correlative conjunction used to show a choice between two possibilities. It means “one or the other.”

(a) To express a choice

It shows that one of the two options is possible or acceptable.

Examples:

You may select either a bag or shoes. ( Means select one item )

Either he will call today or he will visit us the next week.

She wants to study either engineering or bio chemistry.

(b) Subject–verb agreement rule

Like “neither…nor,” the verb agrees with the nearest subject.

Examples:

Either the teacher or the students are responsible.

Either the students or the teacher is responsible.

( Take care of singularity or plurality in the. Sentence)

(c) In negative sentences (informal use)

“Either” can replace “too” in negative sentences.

Examples:

I am not happy.

I am not happy either.

We don't use , I am not happy too

Too here does not give sense.

I don’t like this movie, and she doesn’t like it either.

He didn’t pass the test, and I didn’t either.
