What is predicate, definition,uses and examples

 What is a predicate?

Predicate is the part of a sentence or clause that tells us what the subject does or is.

For example,

Maria eats chocolate cake.

In this sentence Maria is the subject,

The rest of the sentence highlighted is the predicate,that tells or describes what Maria does.

An other example,

Sara is my sister.

In the above sentences Sara is subject and  is my sister  predicate, which tells who Sara is.

 *The paper was difficult.

*Jessica lives in Berlin.

* The bird chriped and flew away.

In simple words, Except Subject the remaining part of the sentence that gives us additional information about the subject  called predicate.
