Preposition    In

Preposition In has many uses , it is used  to show  position, place, time, condition, state, or inclusion inside a thing, space, period, or situation.


Main Uses of the Preposition “In”

1. “In” for Place (Inside something)

“In” is used when something is within the boundaries of a place or object.

Examples:

The baby is in the room .

The players are in the ground.

The fish lives in water.

There is some oil in the bottle.

2. “In” for Country, City, or Large Area

We use “in” with countries, cities, towns, villages, and large regions.

Examples:

He lives in Germany.

He works in Karachi.

She was born in a small village.

The Taj Mahal is in India.

3. “In” for Time (Months, Years, Periods, Parts of Day)

“In” is used with long periods of time.

Examples:

He was born in 2005.

The school will open in August.

4.“In” is used to show a person’s condition, state, or situation.

Examples:

He is in trouble.

5. “In” for Clothing or Appearance

“In” is used to show what someone is wearing.

8. “In” for Inclusion or Membership

“In” is used when someone or something is part of a group.
