How to Learn Regular and Irregular Verbs

In order to make sentences we need verbs in English, you need to know a verb, its all forms: base form, 2nd form and 3rd form as well as 4th form of the verb ( ing form ) .

All verbs have a base form or ‘infinitive’ (for example, walk, make, stay). The majority of verbs, called ‘Regular verbs’, follow the same pattern and create the past simple and the past participle (second and Third form) using the same word ending, -ed.

There are, however, verbs that have different endings, and these are called ‘Irregular verbs.

e.g.  take, go, shake, do, see etc.

What are Regular Verbs?

Regular verbs in English create the past simple and past participle by adding -ed to the base form.

in simple words when a verb with its 2nd and 3rd form ends with (ed) called Regular verbs.

Base form ( 1st form)

Second Form ( past Simple )

   Third form

 ( Past Participle )

If the verb ends in a consonant and -y, we change the -y to -i and added -ed. For example:

Base form ( 1st form)

Second Form ( past Simple )

   Third form

 ( Past Participle )

marry

If a verb ends in -e we simply add -d, For example:
