What is a pronoun?

In English grammar, pronouns are words that can represent any other noun.

In simple words, A word that is used instead of a Noun (to avoid its

 repetition) don’t have to repeat the same word over and over again. 

             Origin : it has been derived from a Latin word  Pronomen 

                           (pro "in place of" + nomen "name").

·              He, she It, They We, you ,I,that,who, her, us. Herself etc

For instance:   He informed me about the result.

                          Who suggested this?

                          It helps you at night when it gets darker.

For instance, a pronoun often acts as the subject of a sentence, followed by a verb that describes the action carried out by the subject.

Examples: Pronouns as subjects

 

They asked for a new date.

 

You look upset.
